Heaven's Outpost On Earth
"The Lord looked down from heaven..."

I am amazed how clearly the globe of the earth appears in the picture, though it is around 240,000 miles (384,000 kms) away from the lunar surface. It is also amazing how something we think so huge can appear so small.

Maybe this explains how clearly Almighty God sees us as He looks down: "The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one." Psalms 14:2-3

Something in me tells me that He knows the real me, the sinful nature, that the "heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, who can know it?" Jeremiah 17:9

The globe of the earth above is at one time or another during the 24-hour day enveloped in black darkness. As the Lord looks down upon us He sees a heart that is in darkness twenty-four hours each day!

The Lord Who looked down also decided to come down. What a glorious day it was when He Who looked down came down in human flesh to become one of us, to seek and to save us! When He came down, "the glory of the Lord shone round about, and the angel said, "Fear not, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. Unto you is born this day a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord." When He came down, "There was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, good will toward men!'"

"The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." John 1:14 The good tidings of great joy is that our loving Lord came down, that He gave Himself a sacrifice for our sins. He died in our stead, all at the post of duty, and He bids us to believe and receive Him as Saviour. Thank God for that Outpost of Heaven on earth!

"For as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God; which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." John 1:12-13

This is Heave's outpost on earth, a Missionary of all missionaries! He would say later to His disciples, "As My Father hath sent Me, even so send I you." To an outpost in a far-away, hostile place, where souls are dying in darkness and need the Light of life, to that outpost He gladly came!
