Missionary Outpost has made a huge effort with the believing prayer that Old and New Testament Bible History Illustrated are effective college-level tools for churches, Bible colleges, Bible institutes and study groups. The Old Testament course "cut its teeth" over the years since 1962 and has come of age in the illustrated version with approximately 900 photos, 1800 visuals and 260 maps to make the Bible "come alive."
The New Testament course, also with several thousand visuals of photos, maps, video footage from the air and simple animations has successfully run a trial pilot program for over 60 laypeople, young and old, along with Bible college students. We felt the results of the ten-month learning experience were exceptional, exciting and glorifying to God. Following that pilot program, a comprehensive enhancement review was carried out on all the materials which consumed several months of hard work. For instance, the number of visuals on the DVD teaching lectures was increased, in some cases doubled since that obviously enhanced the learning experience.
Bible believers have the desire to study God's Word, and we are exhorted to do so in order that we might be "approved of God" as prepared ambassadors for Him. As a missionary pastor for over 50 years it was always a challenge for me to facilitate opportunities that would assist and encourage people to study God’s Word in a structured fashion. We have done our best to create a tool that will facilitate that goal..jpg)
I've noticed another thing in our technology-conscious age: all of us as Bible believers have a strong desire to see the places about which we are studying. It is a genuine thrill to stand on the Mt. of Olives and look down over the city of Jerusalem. The shores of the Sea of Galilee are exciting to us-Jesus was there! However, most will not have the opportunity to visit the Holy Land; it is quite expensive and, unfortunately, today it can be a little dangerous because of political turmoil.
Old and New Testament Bible History Illustrated will challenge both young people and adults while studying the Word of God in its historical, geographical and archaeological contexts. Students can enjoy seeing the places they are studying about while they study. Certainly, it will be a lot cheaper than a two-week trip to the Holy Lands! In fact, the passport and visa fees would probably cost more than the whole year's course of study, whether with the Old Testament course or the New Testament course!!
